140 mph gauge cluster

I have an 83 Firebird (originally a V6) with an 85mph speedo. I wanted to know if there was a way to swap to a 140mph speedo. I know the newer cars (85-up) have different plastic trim around the gauges, but I wasn't sure if they are interchangable. I would like to keep my original trim piece if possible. The gauges are all in one cluster, right? Or could I just change the speedo and leave the rest?

The 140MPH cluster will swap into your car with no problems. I have one for sale if you are interested and I'm less than an hour away from you.

the 140 MPH speedo's that came with the 350TPI cars are electronically controlled where your 83 has a cable driven speedo.

So no it is not a direct bolt in replacement.
But to answer another part of your question yes the cluster with all the gauges does come out in one piece but you can open it up and take and swap out the speedo.

Yes, it is a direct swap. They are all cable driven in Camaro's up to 89. For the Firebirds, 86 or 87 and up is electronic, along with Berlinettas.
