hot air blowing on feet!

Does everyones 3rd gen car blow hot air on thier feet when driving? My car has always done this. When at speed, it feels like it comes from the motor compartment. At a stop, no air on feet. Is a door open that is controlled by a vacuum source. HMMM?

I believe all cars do that (except the hot part) to keep fresh air moving thru the cabin. Every car I've had/been in does that

Every one I've been in does it too. Even if the selector is on OFF, if you move the temp slider to HOT, you feel a warm draught. Slide it to cold, and it's an ambient temperature draught.

Here is an exerpt from the 89 owner's manual page 2C-7:

"Your Camaro has a flow through venteliation system that provides a supply of outside "ram" air into the car when it is moving. When the vehicle is not in motion you can get a steady flow of outside air into the car with the heater or air conditioning blower running."

That was the caption of a pic of the car with arrows showing the airflow coming in (you guessed it) by your feet, and going through the car and out through the vents in the door jambs.

So that should take care of your question.

THANKS EVERYONE. I THOUGHT MY IROC WAS JUST UP TO ITS USUAL TRICKERY! ALTHOUGH IT WOULD BE NICE IF THE AIR WAS COOLER.

A lot of manufactures employ this into their vehicles. The air usually comes through the main vents in the dash and not into the foot wells as our F-bodies do.

don't know if this is the problem, but what is your usual engine temp; throw in a low temp thermostat and it will go away.....did for me!

Possibly a stuck or worn out or removed/bypassed heater valve?

If you leave it all the way in the cool position and turn the fan on... say heat.... the air shouldn't be too warm or the above prob or something with the heater door.
