SS hood owners: a technical question
SS hood owners: a technical question
My car goes into the body shop next month to be whipped into shape, but I've got a question before any sanding and painting starts.
I've got the SS hood and am very excited, but I was wondering about the opening of the scoop.. obviously it functions only to draw air in and over the engine. Has anyone had trouble with rainy weather? Looking at the path of travel, it worries me that incoming water could travel over the plenum and down on to the distributor. Anyone have trouble with this issue? I'll be running a Super Ram in the near future so the distributor cover won't be present to give added shielding.
I was also wondering if anyone went to the trouble of cutting the back edge of the "cowl" portion of the hood. Basically, where it's raised at the back is a solid piece of fiberglass, which to me looks ugly. I would like to cut it at the back to allow for a more true cowl induction type design, but I am also worried about the effects of rain coming in on the electrical system. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

I drove mine in the rain once when my daily was in the shop. It got my polish work all dirty but other than that no adverse affects. I have the Super Ram setup so I would say dont worry about it. You have washed your engine compartment before havent you? It get wet then. As long as everything is tight you shouldn't have problems.
