88 gta respray,
88 gta respray,
Hi, guys I have a nice 88 gta with 50,000 ks on the clock, it is white correct me if im wrong but the original paint would be enamel with a clear coat ? and the paint now has that yellow tinge to it. im not looking for show car paint just something that looks clean and fresh i will be doing the job at home. what is the best paint to use? if i rub it back ( not to the metal ) can i repaint it with acrylic paints ?
Re: 88 gta respray,
The paint from the factory was the "equivilent" of acrylic urethane base and clear.
Many, many variables with refinish products. I prefer DuPont products. They can range from relatively reasonable prices to blindingly expensive.

Re: 88 gta respray,
What he said ppg or dupont , If you're painting at home you may want to consider single stage paint with intergrated clear. makes it a little easier. as you said you're not looking for show car finish. you'll be suprised how good a single stage paint , especially white! can look . dont paint in the sun! the bigest thing to a good paint job is the prep work and the TAPE JOB take extra time with that ,its totaly worth it.
