Lots of pics on one page, so it takes a while to load if you have a slower connection.

Are you serious?

The DS fender is a goner, save yourself some trouble and buy a new one (Around 120$) The PS MIGHT be salvageable, I did a similar repair job on mine. It looks alright, but if you look close you'll see imperfections.

If the nose isn't steel (mine isn't), don't even try to fix it.

All and all, that car looks more like a parts car then a restoration project

I bought an 86 T/A in near MINT condition for $500.00 w/ a blown 305TPI that I am stripping for parts. That Camaro isn't worth the $50 the yard usually wants to junk 'em. Just my 2 cents.

I wasn't serious when I asked. Some woman cut in front of me and we hit head on on Tuesday. I'm just hoping to get a decent amount from her insurance company for the car (not to mention my medical bills). I am interested in what everybody thinks about the engine though. It was shoved back enough to break the distributor cap against the firewall and push the cap into the K&N, but I'm wondering if the block is still ok. Seems like an engine block ought to be pretty tough, but could be cracked I guess. The car is definately going to be totalled though, since it buckled on the sides from the head on collision. Nothing hit the sides. Deformed the floor by the gas pedal a little too. So, being unibody construction, the structure of the car is too far gone. I'm just hoping to get enough compensation to get another in decent shape (of course won't be in as good as mine since the engine is only a year and a half old). I'd say anything looking like that is beyond repair though. After all, it's worse than any car I've ever pulled parts off of.

You'd be amazed how many cars get fixed that are even worse than that.

I think it's nothing a lil wax'n couldn't clean it right up though

I'd seriously doubt the motor got hurt, cast iron is pretty tough

Your car had those crappy one-off t-top too huh ?

I would say that the engine should be fine. A broken distibutor cap is nothing, when the engine was pushed back against the fire wall, the weakest part (cap) broke that's all. Still you will not know for sure until you pull teh motor and take a look at it.

I'm not sure if it will be worth saving the engine anyways. I'm just going to wait and see what the first insurance offer is and then decide. I don't think the engine can come out without cutting the front framework off the car anyways. So its probably going to be a totally new (to me) car. I'm thinking either a late thirdgen (for safety reasons and possibly tpi) or an early second gen (for more of a project and no emissions testing). I've got to do some looking around and serious thinking to decide what I do. The loaner F*rd Fiesta just isn't gonna cut it.

i dont ever think my eyees are gonna heal after seeing a catastrophy like that.. what a nice car gone to waste. i hope you crawled out of the car(or however yo ugot out) yelling of pain and havent stopped since.. although im sure you didnt even have to try to fake being injured after that.. i think the engine is fine, its rare that long blocks, and much rarer short blocks are damaged.. it is one helluva smash if they can damage the block. in any case, you mentioned u looking for an early second gen? i got one a 74, 383, 400 tranny if ur lookin to buy u do want to buy it.. dont you?
