Overspray Question

I just checked out an red 89 Iroc. It looked nice and everything but I noticed some over spray in the rear wheel well. The guy has owned it for almost three years and says it wasnt painted to his knowledge. So I figure someone had it painted before he got it, but the overspray shouldnt stay on in there that long should it?? I thought it would have worn off. Also I noticed a spot between the drivers side window and the rear hatch, where it looked like the clearcoat had come off or something, but someone had put another one on over top of it. Its hard to notice but just makes me think that it probably has been painted. Anyways thanks in advcance for the help!!

ok so if you suspect it, point it out. the worst he could do is maybe feel embarassed. and then just tell him that you wont buy it unless the price is dropped since its been painted and it wasnt a good job.
IMO.

Well my dad pointed it out, and he says that it hadnt been painted to his knowledge. I sorta believe him but I just wondered if the over spray would stay on there for that long.

Why wouldn't it? You said it's in the wheel well and most people don't wash the wheel wells. If they just get wet and nothing ever rubs it enough, it won't go away. If the quarter was ever repainted, it will still be there. As for the clear issue, are you sure it was reshot? I had an 82 Z28 that looked discolored in that area and found that the red paint was discoloring. I waxed that area often to try and clean it up, but it would never go away. It was just a defect.
