Thats hilarious!! I was a teenager in the 80's and NEVER saw anything like that! Might be a good snowplow but thats about it!

Looks like a small airfoil from a semi truck andsomeone put on the front of that SC. I grew up in the 80's as well and never seen anything like that eaither.

Exactly right. Some folks had similar ones on top of their duallies to save gas. Not sure if that worked.
I like the engine in the Camaro though...

Turbowing used to make a more rounded version on those out of stainless and were popular on semi-trucks and pick-up trucks of the vintage. My dad called them "bird bangers"... guessing birds didn't get out of the way of them enough lol.

I'm gonna guess its a homemade deal. Looks like the builder was pretty handy with sheetmetal
