Transmission: TH700R4/Vigilante
Axle/Gears: D44/3.45
Firebird 82 thinner than 87
Hey i got a doubt here i have 1982 firebird and when i close the door it sounds one concrete sound.(powerful).but when i close the door of the 87 it sounds like empty or like the door is made of cheaper metal i dont know...Did GM made change of materials to lose weight or something??anyone is with me or happened the same???

Could be sound deadener in the door. Otherwise they should be very similar. Also, the condition of the window fuzzies has a lot to do with how much the window rattles when closing the door.

or they couldda use thinner metal
i know between 80 and 82 corvettes fiberglass was thinned considerably. they lost quite a few pounds because of it but i forget the actuall weight they lost. but sound deadening and fuzzies are the most probable reason that they sound diffrent. check to see if the doors sag too.
