I need HELP with rear quarter and bondo
I need HELP with rear quarter and bondo
Im sanding the rear quarters and the drivers side, is 99% bondo. From the rear wheel back. Its about a inch thick (some of it was chipped off).
What the hell should i do, its spiderwebbing everywhere and i dont want to add more bondo to it.
Do i need a new quarter skin ?? if so how much are they and can a do it yourselfer install one ?
Thanks guys

If there is that much bondo on it, you are just asking for more trouble.
Look at yearone's website and think about ordering new metal to replace whatever you can. You will be better off in the long run. If you just keep bondoing over it you will just keep cracking and have to replace it later anyway.

Arthur, The only thing you can do is tear it ALL off and see what you have. If it was just a case of whoever did it was to lazy to hammer it out nice, then you can work the metal back into shape and re-apply filler. An inch thick is about 3/4" too thick at the most and why it's spider cracking. Applying filler over that mess will only put off more cracking.
To diy a quarter you need a lot of tools. Air,welder, grinders, chizel, etc, etc. just to name a few.

WEll i grabbed a hammer/chizel today and popped off a good handfull of the bondo. The rear quarter is shot - some of the damage is in places i can not fix. So it looks like i'll be getting a rear quarter (lower) skin.
Anyone know why (on next gen parts) the firebird price is listed and the camaro price is not ??? Are they the same price ?
