1989 Camaro Hood Latch problem. :help:

For some reason my 1989 Chevrolet Camaro has a weird hood latch and this seemed like the best spot to put this.

When I pull the hood release you can hear it moving and I know the hood release works but you have to have someone pulling on the hood at the right moment the right way for it to unlatch and be able to unlatch it completely to open the hood, so I could never open it myself. Also when closing it sometimes if you don't close it a certain way it wont close and needs to be pushed down with more force then seems necessary.

I've only dealt with Honda Civics and never a hood this big and don't know where to start. This is my first Camaro and i'll never go back to anything 4cyl.

ANY AND ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED AND WELCOMED!

Lubrication seems to help most of the time. Be sure the spring is still attached to the bottom side of the hood.

I'll try that, any specific brand that works best for it? That was the first thing I checked, I'll look at how other hoods work when I go to the junkyard.

I'd go with WD or PB Blaster to get it freed up, then white lithium after or something similar that doesn't wash off so easy.
