seperating taillight housing?
Anyone know how to seperate the taillight
housing from the lens on an 89 camaro without breaking it. I removed all screws and couldnt figure out how to remove the rest of it.
Thanks

isnt there two little clip things where you have to push down then pull apart? besides the screws i think there's two screw-like flat things you have to pry out on the top. i can picture it but hard to explain, good luck
Sorry to say, but you can't. Those screw like thingys are plastic rivets. Even if you pop those things out, you still gotta pull off the outer peice of the tailight which is one entire peice of plastic. You'll just end up cracking everything.
Thats what I thought too. I had a old junk one laying around that I tried it on first and it ended up cracking. I've seen replacements at Classic. Maybe they are for
use with new housings only.
Thanks

This may or may not help but I dissected the lens, housing on an 86 T/A that sounds like it has similar components.
When it was removed it had the plastic rivets (which I ground the heads off with a dremel) and a couple of metal clips like mentioned above. It still stuck together because of a silicone like sealant put on there to keep out moisture.
You could use like a hairdryer or something (didn't have to in Phoenix) and gently pry this apart.
On reassembly you can re-seal this with silicone sealant and get some similar plastic rivets in the HELP section at the automotive store.
What goes together can come apart.

That sounds exactly like it. It does have the little black rivet looking things.I'll
have to try the dremel thing on my other spare and then figure out how to reattach it.
I am currently trying to mod the housing for
brighter lights.Already tried chrome paint and tin foil but no good. I have one more Idea that I think will be awsome.
Thanks
