What causes swirl marks

Just wondering, its been 2 years since I've painted my car, I've got a few scratches but no swirls. I've used zaino and cotton towels since it was repainted I think I've discovered the solution to no swirls

Woah I use soft terrycloth bath towels.
should i be using a shammy instead?

And Jegs has this Water Blade thing for like $12 that sheets water away without scratching anything. Its like 99.999% non abrasive.

CRAP now how do you get those swirl marks out?

That blade looks iffy. Go with The Absorber. Wash and wipe your car like you would sand wood. go with the grain (i know theres no grain on a car). Don't wash in circles. I use two diffenet mits one for GFX and one for the body. I don't like to wash the GFX with the body mit becuase if you have rocks and sh*t on the GFX now you carry all the sh*t to the body and scratch it all to hell. some people say I'm **** about my car I don't find that is true at all

A blade is awesome for getting off most of the water then I use the absorber for a pretty quick process.

Your swirl marks can be removed with a buffer with a foam pad and 3M Machine Glaze @ 1800 RPM. A few years ago we also used a product by 3M called "Fill-n-Glaze". Awesome pink product that worked well by hand especially on dark colors.
