Power and manual windows.....some questions
Power and manual windows.....some questions
I need a window bad. Mine broke last week, and a guy who was gonna hook me up with one off a parts car backed out on me. I have an '87 with power windows. I mainly need the glass itself, but before mine broke, it was also going up and down at funny angles, and not going up all the way everytime. Was it just off the track, or is something probably broken? I've never dealt with anything inside the door panels. I'm gonna grab a new window tomorrow at the junkyard and have it installed, but I'm not sure if I should get just the glass, or the guides and whatnot in the door. Also, would I have to get parts off a vehicle w/ power windows, or are the guides the same for manual windows?

The glass is the same. The guides on power vs. manual are the same. The only thing that is different is the regulator which you already have. Your window guides are probably either broken or loosened over time and not "grabing" the glass properly.
I think the reason you had the angle problems with your last window was the regulator. Make sure it looks like the one off the parts car of junk yard car. Then you know if the regulator is broken or not.
