Hi guys im a new member, I have a problem with my drivers side mirror. Just recently it was hanging down and it will not hold itself up now, its almost as if the cables behind the mirror got stretched somehow. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Has the mirror backing come free of the mount? Look behind the mirror, there is a cross-shaped slot molded in the plastic backing. It needs to snap onto the cross-shaped piece. Use a cloth on the glass to carefully reattatch it.

If I remember correctly I don't think it has, but I could be wrong, I will look at it tomorrow when I go to work, I appreciate the advice.
Thanks

I'm going by memory. I converted my manual mirrors to power years ago. As I recall I used the same mirror glass. I'll look at my Firebird tomorrow. It still has manual mirrors.

Re: Driver Side Mirror Problem
I took a look and it is still attached onto the plastic cross shape on the backing of the mirror, my only other idea is someone told me that one of the 3 cables could be broken inside the door.

Is this a problem where the mirror is flopping in the housing or the mirror is not responding to the handle when you try to adjust it? The holder that the cables attach to on the mirror end could have broken. You can move the mirror to the extreme down position and look in with a flashlight behind the mirror to see what is going on. Or you can pop the backing plate free of the cross-shaped piece, then everything will be visible.
