Replacing Doors/Cruise Control

I started to replace the passenger side door the other day, but then I seen the service manual says you need a special compression tool to compress the spring on the door hinge. I have checked with Advanced Auto Parts, and they do not sell the tool nor could they tell me who would sell it. Do I have to let the body shop replace the door, or does anyone know where the tool can be bought?
Also, let me forward another question, I have replaced the cable from the cruise control transducer to the transmission, and made sure the cable from the cruise control transducer to the speedodometer is in working order. I have replaced the instrument cluster, and replaced the cruise control transducer with the proper one, having the mounting bracket for the solenoid. I have checked the switch at the brake with a meter to make sure it was working as well as the cruise control switch itself on the turn signal lever. I have also tested the cruise control transducer with the meter to verify it is working. Also, I checked the gear at the transmission that the speedodometer cable plugs into, and it is like new. Well, the speedodometer still jumps, and the cruise control still does not work. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

For the door swap all you should is scribe where you old door is-if the fit is good-and unbolt it. you don't need any tool to swap doors, only if you're going to fix the door hinges themselves.

One other thing, I am working with an '83 Trans Am. Also, the bolt I need to remove to change the door is behind the spring and I cannot get to the bolt without removing the spring.

take off the fender, sounds like a pain, but it'll make removal an installation much easier
