Plastic welding.

Hi,

Does anyone know if the bumpers on thirdgen's can be plastic welded. It is marked on the bumper as TPU plastic which is very rubbery. Had a guy try to weld it a few weeks back but said he couldn't do it as it was startung to burn. Just wondering is there some method of doing it.

Thanks.

I think our bumpers have fiberglass too. My Chin spoiler has damages and was advised by many members to replace it rather than patch and fix it.

Re: Plastic welding.

3M makes some great products for repairing these bumpers. Mine was cut into from the front edge straight back to the headlight. Repaired it with 4240 and it still looks good. It's been painted nearly 5 years now. Check with your auto paint supplier and he should be able to guide you to the right products and procedures.

Thanks guys for your replies. I will see if I can get 3M 4240 this side of the water, probabily not though. If I can't get the 3M is there any other product you can recommend.

Thanks.
