Remove Paint From Plastic.

Hi,

Just wondering is there any way to remove paint from this plastic part that goes on the front bumpers of the 82-84 Firebirds. These were never painted originally and it probably doesn't show from the picture but it doesn't look well. Would need a way to remove paint without damaging the plastic underneath. What about ordinary paint stripper, will that work for car paint.

Thanks.

Media blast from what I hear works. I'm looking to have this done to my plastics so they dont get damaged.

Re: Remove Paint From Plastic.

The plastic underneath is probably faded from age. The previous owner probably painted them to clean them up. For what it would cost to try and media blast the paint off why not just buy a repo set? Classic sells them here I don't really know how much it would cost to media blast them but I would think by the time you factor in the media and labor it would come out to around the same amount of money.

Re: Remove Paint From Plastic.

There was a thing on MuscleCar a couple months ago... Soak them in brake fluid and wash the paint off. Most paint removers will EAT the plastic. There is a stuff called Bumper Stripper, but it didn't touch the base paint on my bumper covers .
