Window Weatherstripping

I recently bought a 1986 trans am and the weather stripping on the car is horriable. My funds are limited since most of the money i had went into buying the car.

The driver side window has NO weather stripping in the window , the door weatherstripping is fading, but i think i can squeeze alil more life out of them.

The window weatherstrippping has me worried though, I will beable to post pictures later today.

So my question is what is my best option to replace the weatherstripping in the window. Any help is greatly appericated

Re: Window Weatherstripping

I assume you're talking about the window sweeps since they tend to be the biggest eyesore on our cars as far as weatherstripping. The window sweep is the piece that sits on the outside of the door, and rests in between the door and window glass.

From what I've heard, they are not easy to replace. The door panels have to come off of course, and then access to the mounting screws of the sweeps is VERY tight. I think I paid around $70 for my pair on eBay, was planning on letting the body shop install them when they do my t-top bar install and other weatherstripping.

Do a search on here for window sweeps, you should be able to find other threads with install info.
