It's been done. I don't know how well the dash fits with 3rdgen door panels though. I've seen the early and late 4thgen Camaro and a late 4thgen T/A dash swapped into a thirdgen. I haven't seen a tech article on it but that would rock! I know it requires modification to the factory harness to accept the gage cluster, though I'm still unsure how to get the signal for the speedo with a cable driven 3rdgen. I assume there's adapters available, though I don't know where. I believe it also requires changing the heater box due to the clearance for the glove box. I'm still unclear on wiring up the A/C control head, although the stereo is pretty straightforward. I assume if you get a complete dash and heater box, you'll be changing enough in the dash for the A/C control head to be a direct fit.
I'm planning the swap into my '86 when funds permit, so keep an eye on the boards, as I will document it as I go along, I may make a tech article if it goes well. I know a few people are interested in the swap. BTW: I have the wiring schematics for the entire dash assembly for a 1997+ Camaro dash if u need it (to wire up the cluster)

I have an 82 with the cable driven speedo
I would definitely like the harness please
I'm sure you could re-do the door panels to make them to match on the original panels
I would do this for sure

Hey, I lost the link to that thread but I'd like to see your pics again. I was considering using a T/A dash with Camaro guts since the T/A dashes have 3 nice places to put gages. It looked like the Camaro stereo, A/C control head and cluster would fit right in. Lemme see!!!I have plenty of access to 4thgen late T/A dashes, but haven't seen any Camaro dashes around here. Thanks!
Any difficulty so far on the install? Did you need to swap the heater box? I assume you had to in order to have the A/C controls work properly.
