value of upgrades?

Today I picked up an '85-'90 IROC hood for $75, good deal? I thought so. But the guy wants $140 for the matching front bumper cover with airdam. I thought it worth no more than $100 with the amber lights, but he wants an extra $10 each for those. So really $160! And he wants $60 per wheel for the 5-spoke aluminum 15x7s. I offered $50, cash in hand, which he turned down. I know for fact that they've sat there in his salvage yard for at least 6 months. And a complete replacement driver's door assembly with trim & all for $150! Is he right to ask so much, or should I keep shopping around?

If they are in good shape, you need to buy them!

Look through
Thirdgenranch
He has very good used, as well as some GM new bumper covers, air dams, chins, etc. Has the wheels too. That will give you an idea.

RCAR7395 in Indiana can get some good stuff too.

Re: value of upgrades?

I got a phone pic of the nose, I'll try to get that uploaded or linked tomorrow. Right now I have the basic '82-'84 nose. I don't mind basic, but if I'm not having the airdam, I'd prefer '85-'87 for base nose looks.

Think hard on the wheels because 15x7in. wide are IMO OK for the front but 15x7in. wide is a little thin for the rear. That's just me . I like the staggered look. Can you post a photo of the wheels.
Is this them ?

Yep, that's them. He says there are IROC center caps for them inside the car, but he just wants to charge for 16s. I'm not paying. I'll stick with my '70s chromed 14x7s and 14x8s until I decide on some 17x9s. Here's the hood I scored: 003 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! and here's the nose I'm considering: 004 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
