I was talking to a friend of mine with a buick regal and he was saying that there were aluminum hoods made for the regals mostly for cheating and stuff like that to save weight but still have the metal look and feel.

Did anyone ever make one for thirdgen camaro's? My goal is to drop as much weight as possible and still have the stock look. That is why I was trying to search down an 82-83 factory hood but I have also heard that these really aren't that much lighter because it was made with thick fiberglass.

This topic came up last night. Yes the factory DID build a few aluminum hoods. They were very rare, and only a few made it to street use so they could be used for their intended application of racing. I doubt you will find one though. Just to let you know, they were reported to be lighter than the glass hoods.
