hood wont stay up???

hood wont stay up???
ive bought three sets of pistons now to hold up the hood and im still using a stick. what am I doing wrong? all oem new sets, all fit exactly on as described, but none of them will keep the hood up. any suggestions??

I dont know if the base model hoods weighed less than the IROC hood or the Z28 hood but its a possibility when you get them make sure you tell them you have an IROC not just a 1989 camaro.. just my

You need to make sure your buying for a STEEL HOOD.These struts hold my TA hood up with no problem and these hoods have to be one of the heaviest made.

Agreed. Some earlier models had a fiberglass hood. If not check your hood hinges. I had to replace mine as well.
