Glasstek 4"

Who's got one? Can I see some various pictures as well as an inside view so I can see visibility levels? Trying to determine if I want to swap my cowl hood out and get one of these instead for the future BBC swap. Car is getting painted soon so I definitely need to make up my mind.

Check out this link and it shows the bolt on 82 to 92 4"

Its not a Camaro hood but it does show how deep it is towards the middle.

Ah, very nice! That's not that bad visibility-wise from the looks of it. What do you think? Tolerable?

Hay, if its necessary than I could get used to it. Mines a DD street car so the 2" fits me perfectly but even though its a true cowl 2" is not much to work with. CA is pretty strict about stupid stuff and Ive heard rumors that it could be considered a visual obstruction. If its on the street allot than you might want to look into it before paint .Last , that's one large cowl opening , no worries about getting enough air but I think I saw in the other photo that you can keep the hood cowl weather striping in a attempt to keep water from free falling into the bay. Just a thought.

I've got a 2.5" KeyParts hood (ours appear to be the same exact hood if you recall correctly). Only major difference is that it's a steel hood and obviously extra clearance. I didn't go with fiberglass the first time around because I wasn't sure of who to buy one from, but Glasstek seems to make decent quality stuff from the reviews I've seen across here, YellowBullet, Chevelle, and LS1tech. That and I've had fiberglass before and it's a massive difference in weight, particularly if you're working on the car by yourself.

We'll see I guess. It's another $600, and I'm currently finishing paying for my 6 point rollbar setup.. so I've got time to decide.

Re: Glasstek 4"

I have the 4" bolt on from GlassTek on my Firebird slightly different but I'm 6'4 and I can't see the passenger side headlight when it's flipped up. Just for point of reference.

My glasstek has a rain channel built in it. It does a fair job of collecting the rain and keeping it off the distributor.

It also has all attachments for stock hood hardware (spring and latch).

I bought mine 2nd hand off eBay because it was damaged and previous guy didn't want to fix it. There is a shot of my hand next the cowl.

Be warned the corners have around 1" of extra material that hung down and covered up almost 1/2 of my turn signals. I trimmed it back and smoothed out the two piece design on the front lip.
