my tilt steering is shaky...i need some help!

can anyone tell me how to expose the tilt steering joint? mine is really loose (gives about an inch in every direction) but i cant get that plastic collar off without breaking it to pieces, or do i have to pull the wheel off and remove the blinker and stuff? all i know now is i may need a torx socket and some threadlocker, which i have. I just need to know how to get to the bolts or whatever to tighten the f**ker back up! i would really appreciate any advice, thanks!

Well I've run into the same problem. But I always take it to the dealer, for that one reason, I'm afraid to break the column. I can fix and get to almost everything but that, it only cost 20 bucks at the dealer.

Remove your kickpanel, lie on your back and look up under the column. You'll see ?two? big bolts attached there. Loosen them off a bit, have someone move your wheel to the position you want, and tighten the sh*t out of the bolts. I'm pretty sure that's your problem.

hello, yes you must take the steering wheel off to access the 4 torx bolts. its a deeper in the column than you think. i suggest you take it to the dealership if you have never been there before...too much stuff to mess up. best of luck, tom
