Im lookin to get a bolt on cowl hood. For now I have to slam the hood shut. I dont think that a fiberglass hood will last long in doin this. So, do I repair or replace the old latch? I already cleaned the latch and hit it with never-seize it helped a lil but it still needs slammed. TIA guys

Not quite sure I am following you. Is the latch only catching when you slam the hood? are you releasing the hood real high like over your head? You should be able to just replace the hood latch if that is the proble. And those are a dime a dozen in the junk yards. BTW, don't get the bolt on scoop, get a full fiberglass hood. cleaner and lighter.

Check to see if the hood is aligned, maybe its sitting a little to far back and the catch is hitting the metal part that it usualy slides past and latches under. Mine was doing that.
I dunno if the latch itself has any adjustment I didnt look at that I just loosened my hood and moved it till it worked.

No I am not gettin just a scoop, i meant the whole hood. Perhaps my hood is out of alignment. Ill go to shut it and the safety latch catches, but the main latch wont catch. I will try to adjust it if it doesnt work.

PS I there n e 1 that makes a billet or crome latch? Ive seen it but dont know where to get it.
