Rear Quarter Remove/Replace
Rear Quarter Remove/Replace
I have an 87 sport coupe 305 lg4 and currently getting body ready for paint. The left rear quarter has rust-thru at the lip of the wheel well - front and rear. I can buy a whole quarter for $110 and was thinking was just cutting sections and replacing only the bad spots. I assuming replacing the entire quarter is a lot of work. The Schmitts' collision repair puts it at 47 hours. Any thoughts? I'm thinking that cutting the new quarter and sectioning looks easiest.

if you have the money ot waste on buying a new quater panel then go ahead but if i where you i would take a ride and stop at all the body shops and ask them if you can go through there scrap pile and pick out a panel that closely resmebles what you need. then just cut it out and patch the rust hole you will need to cut out all the rust onthe quater panel. rust never sleeps and you dont want to do the job twice. just make a patch and weld it on. dont worrry about about getting the panel perfect, that is what body filler is for. if you are not familer with it then just have the car fixed at the place that is painting it
