Recaro style seats
has anybody put in Recaro style seats in their 3rd gen? A friend of mine has recaros in his car and they are the most comfortable I've ever seen. I do 600 to 700 miles a week in my firebird and at 100,000 miles the seats don't have a lot of padding or side support left. Any problems installing this type of seat? Model #s etc. thanks.

I have Recaro seats out of an 86 Recaro T/A in my car and they are pretty comfortable. But by far the most comfortable I have felt after a couple of hours are the GTA seats. After about an hour the Recaro seats start killing my lower back. But they do look great in a 3rd gen.

Fully loaded and everything usually works.

go with aftermarke companies...
you can install any seat you want with some custom brackets
Recaro still makes seats , so does MOMO , and you can find some even in SUMMIT (www.summitracing.com)
and more..
but if you want a really nice comfortable seat , be prepared to shell out close to a grand for them.

They are nor recaro seats but you can go to the junkyard and find a newer wrecked fbod and put those seats right in place of the old ones, I did with some 98 seats in my 84 and they are pretty nice.

Matt, quick Question about your seats, When converting to later style seats, do all the bolt holes line up, or si there some finagleing to do to get them to work. I know that all the bolt holes line up from going from the GTA to & stndard seats, I only assume that the bolt holes in the Recaro seats would also be the same.
I put a 6 way power adjsuter from an 83 T/A, and ran the wires for both the GTA lumbar support, and for the 6 way. I now have a 12 way power seat.

I just hate doing this but one of th most comfortable seat I have been in is a ............... VW/Audi seat, course that WILL COST A GRAND OR MORE, but aftermark Recaro is the way to go, they use those in the control room for our transit guys (uncle works for them). GTA seats would be my choice if not going with aftermark and can't find recaros.
