Do the key codes on the build sheet for a car mean anything? In other words, can I have a dealership cut me a body key, or ignition key from that code? (Or are they meaningless designations like most of the parts?)

I feel that I am probably going to need to replace all of the external cylinders anyways due to some moron damaging them, so I could probably just tell GM to pick a combination, but it would be cool if I could actually re-key the car the way it was originally supposed to be.

I certainly would never pay a locksmith 100.00 to cut me a key. What a racket.
