Super 77, How ?????

Ok, on the headliner fix, you guys recommended super 77 from 3m, and so I bought new headliner material, and i brushed off the old headliner foam junk. It stuck for a few days, but then, the thing juss doesn't stick, it only does this in the heat (90 or higher, or whatever makes the roof too hot to touch) Now, would contact glue work, I saw some non-flammable stuff at home depot, but then it said "Non-flammable until 140 f", now i think it gets that hot b/twn the roof and the headliner.

YES, try the 3M 90, it is better up to a higher heat. AND there is a place here in the Greater Flint area where I can get High temp headliner spray adhesive, it works as good as if not better than the 90. its in a Gold can. I get it at a upholstery fabric shop.

question 89V6, How did you apply the super 77? Did you just spray it on then bond the two surfaces together, or did you spray each surface, wait about a half hour then bond them together. Super 77 (and most other upholstery adhesives) works like a contact cement, so you have to let it fully tack up in order for it to make a good bond.

I also got some stuff in a gold can from an upholstry supplier that works great, if you follow the directions about tack time.
It's called Performance Aerosol Products
"Performance High Temp Trim Adhesive", R.J. Ackaway & Associates, good stuff........

I sprayed both pieces (headliner and fiberglass) and then waited about 20 min before sticking them together, HI-strength 90??? hmmmm I don't know. It gets really really hott here in so-cal, last time I looked at the thermometer in my dad's expedition it said 138 f inside the car! Just imagine how much hotter it would be in a thirdgen.

OK I brought this post back from the dead. But I finally got around to fixing that headliner. I used 3M's General Trim Adhesive and today it got really hot in there, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!

Adhesive for carpet - NONE (it's been said, the seats, bolts and what nots hold in molded carpet). I've got picks of new carpet being slid in after a floor pan replacement on my web site.
Headliner Adhesive - Not over the counter sprays. My step brother and I did 2 f-bods with 3M and a couple of weeks later, the work was worthless (adhesive gave out). My father has recently re-upholstered 2 headliners beautifully with light coats of standard CARPET glue.... Light enough not to seep through the liner, yet it's tacty enough to hold as good as factory!

Many of us here are ameteurs here with different experiences and good input, this was just my 2 cents.
