My 87iroc has a tiny bit of rust on it but i dont want it to get any worse this winter being that im 18 and its my only car. Anyone have any ideas on how to rust proof. Does spraying wd40 under the car help at all?

You'll hear por-15 praised to no end but, a cheaper route (and you don't have to order it) is to clean the rust (wire brush) & go to a welders supply store (use your yellow pages) & get some cold galvanizing compound & follow the directions on the can. It applies like a primer but is a true zinc compound. Cold galv it what it used on commercial galvanized steel to bring it to spec after it has been welded on.

I was in a similar delemma when I was 16, so I bought a second Beater car for $250 bucks. ran for many years, and I did not have to care where I parked it.

I know thats not the answer you were looking for. But it is the only way to keep a northern car really nice in my opinion. the salts do so mych damage.
