Who would like to share their custom interior touches?
Who would like to share their custom interior touches?
Anyone have any custom interior touches that they would like to share? Tweed? Paint? Steering? Anything? Pics even better! thanks
The first 2 pics are outdated, but the last 2 are pretty recent. My headliner, speaker covers, and sun-visors are being re-upholstered in bright red fabric, and after Christmas, I'm going to order a set of the Poly black and red race seats. All of the plastic peices that are red have been sanded smooth, primed and painted with automotive BC/CC paint. I made all of the custom stainless peices and the dash emblem, on a Mori Seiki MH-40 CNC milling machine, using Smart-Cam programming software. I made the center-cap for the steering wheel on a Mori Seiki SL-55 CNC lathe, using Virtual Gibbs programming software, and cut the bowtie with the MH-40.
Outdated, the guages are now white, and the bezels that cover the Headlight switch, and the cig. lighter are now Blk/Red.
Outdated, the shifter plate and section where the ash-tray was is made out of brushed stainless to match the switch panel(where heater controls were) and the plate behind the shifter plate.
My custom, home-made white face guages.
My custom CNC-machined 6.3 Liter H.0. dash emblem.
My brand new steering wheel. I haven't even installed it yet. I made the center cap @ work from T-6061 billet aluminum.

Here is my 1987 Formula Full leather seats, and door panels.
Often called GTA seats, the dual articulating seats was available as an option on Formulas and Trans Ams. I am not sure if they were available on the Base Firebird. In the 1991 Firebird Owners Manual they were referred to as "Ultima Seats".

I'd be afraid to sit in those seats, wouldn't want to dirty them.

I have about 6 different sketches of patterns for the front seats if you are interested.
aww heck, Ill post em anyway.
I made a web page cause it is kind of large: 181K or so. Should take about 99 sec on a 28.8 modem or 50 sec on a 56k modem.

okfoz? did you create those seats and patterns yourself? I am very interested in those camaro seats. Heres all I got so far guys::
I'm gonna replace these with a whole new gauge cluster soon. I plan on gettins some new seats or having my recovered. I am installing an Dual a-Pillar Gauge pod. I have neon tube lights that are red that I am going to stick up under the dash to light up the foot section when the doors open. I have been studing hard about the computers in cop cars and I'm seriously considering installing something simlar, if I can find the right size LCD screen and used laptop to rip apart.

These are the plastic seats I was referring to, only, of course, mine will be blk/red. They are plastic, but they have vinyl seat cover, and they are available in many different colors. They are a lot lighter than factory ones and have provisions for 5 point harnesses.
As far as the gauges go, go to. http://www.mikekey.net/fbody/whitegauges/ and check out Mike's article and templates.

I simply took the sketch to my Upholster and let him go to town. I paid a little more, but you can see the results, worth every penny. I actually get questions asking if the car is some sort of special edition.
If anyone wants more ideas, I will sketch a few more if you would like.
When I did it, my upholsterer was delighted, cause, he KNEW EXACTLY what I wanted. There was NO questions. Originally I had something else designed, but because of limitations of the leather, it could not be pulled off. I like my final better anyway.
I have back seats too, I just need to locate the sketches.

The junkyard didn't have any 6 speed cars there, so I just bought this one since it was already
removed from a car and was in pretty good condition and was only $75.00.
I ordered the 6 speed plate from a guy on LS1.com, still waiting on it, should be here any day now.
mine is just like the frist guys but mine is sliver and i also paint the vents sliver. no pics yet but hopefully soon.
