Help! Paint Problem - Peeling paint under primer
I am preping my vehicle for paint and have run into a problem. I am priming the entire vehicle and after spraying the first coat, I noticed the paint underneath began to bubble in one particular spot. This was a spot that the paint had originally flaked off so I sanded the area to smooth the edges and sprayed the primer to cover. The edges of the original paint were peeling so I sanded again and reprimed. Now same problem over a larger area. I didn't learn so same thing again on an even bigger area.
What is happening. I peeled the paint off down to the original factory primer (it came off easily with the primer) but it continues to peel around the edges every time I reprime the area. This didn't happen in other areas with similar problems. What could be happening and how do I fix. Should I sand it down to the metal and use etching primer? How do I keep the edges from peeling?
I've done this type of work a few times and never had this problem. Any advice is appreciated.

You need to use an epoxy based primer or sealer. I ran into the same problems on my GTA because of the laquer-based primer. The primer would cover the feather-edges, but the new paint would eat right through the primer and lifted my paint. I'm in the process of repainting the whole car now. I was told buy other members here and other places that the cure is to use the epoxy-based sealer, and so far in our tests, it seems right-on.
