Need advice on buying
Hi everyone. Well first off I am just getting back from Marine Corps boot camp. I made it a little over halfway in training and I got a stress fracture in my leg and I got sent home because my leg did not heal fast enough to finish bootcamp in time. So I am home and need a cheap vehicle. I found a 1989 camaro rs v6 with 5 speed. I'm not sure of the mileage because door was locked but I seen what looked like 68,000 miles but I am not 100 percent on that. Things that I found wrong with a quick look. Paint of course with minor rust and a few small dents. Interior is fair for 25 years old. Missing a rim so they got spare on it. Tires are pretty bad shape. Muffler is torn open. Looks like it got hooked on something. No leaks on ground. Couldn't see much so I don't know about the rest. I have attached a picture. I have always been a fan of 3rd gen camaro so that's one reason I would rather go with this instead of anything else. I need something pretty reliable and decent on gas so I can get back and forth to work. Short distance traveling. The guy is asking 1200 but I know he would negotiate. What I would like to know is if it runs and drives good what would be a reasonable price to pay for it and how reliable are they. Any advice is appreciated.

To me thats a $500 car tops. Reliability all depends on if the previous owner or owners didnt play with anything or did it right and its not hacked. I have heard the V6's are decent for fuel and if you want it for driving to work it will do. Look at the floors, strut towers and inside the rear wheel wells in the corners for rot. If you see it either walk away or see how bad it is and if you want to fix it sometime down the road
