seat belts don't lock?

I've gota 91z and anytime i try and get the seatbelts to lock by pulling it forward real fast with my hand it just won't lock. the car has 127k on it and i think the adjusters/belt retractors in the ceiling have just worn out. Does anyone else have this same problem? I've owned mainly chevy's and normally i can get the belts to lock. I don't wana wait till a accident to find out their screwed up Thanks!

Dan.

The seatbelt mechanism is really simple. I got to see its insides when I redid my entire interior. Inside there is a ratchet like mechanism and a hanging weight. When the car angles downward, as in a braking situation, the weight swings forward locking the ratchet wheel which is attached to your seat belt. To test whether your seat belt will work when necessary, drive the car with one hand, preferably in a safe area. With the other hand hold the seat belt. Hit the brakes hard, pull on the seat belt, the seatbelt should defintitely be locked. If it doesn't then change the whole thing. Of course the belts won't save you if you don't try to brake and you crash into something.
