Scratches

I woke up at about midnight last night to hear my alarm going off. I walk outside and looked at my car real quick and saw nothing. So I went back inside and went to sleep. This morning I looked at it in the light and saw someone had keyed my entire car to Hell!It is keyed every where including my hood and roof. A lot of them all the way to bare metal. My question is how to cover the scartches up.Is ther any way to hide them without using touch up paint? Or should I touch them up? I live in Arizona so I don't have to worry about them rusting. Should I just get a cheap paint job? The car is really straight and had pretty nice origial paint until it was keyed. The car is my daily driver but I'm going to sell it in a few months. What should I do about it? Any replies are appreciated. Thanks

Some people just have no respect! Send them over to Afganistan and then bomb them!

There's not a whole lot you can do unless you repaint. Touch up paint in better than nothing. For touch up paint, use primer, paint, and clear. Wet sand between coats and afterward. Compound, polish and wax. If you want to get the car repainted, remember, you get what you pay for. You can save a lot of money by removing as much of the trim, lights, decals, emblems, etc. as you can. If you are good at bodywork, then you can do that too.

If you have Full coverage on your insurance you could get the whole car repainted for just the comprehensive deductible usually $100. I used to work at a body shop and customers would come in with their cars keyed up and the insurance would pay to have every panel redone. The only way to fix deep scratches is to repaint every panel that was keyed. Even if the edge of the panel is chipped the whole panel will have to be redone. I know this sounds like a lot of wasted time but it's the only way to do the job right. Also, if only part of the car is scratched up the adjacent panels would have to be prepped for blending onto. For example, you can not paint a door by itself, you have to blend the paint onto the front fender and rear quarter panel also to make the new paint blend nicely to match the original paint. A lot of body shops will just paint each panel and it'll show. Any quality body shop will do what I've just described. Hope this helps.

The only thing you can do temporarily is sand the scrathes down and feather edge them to the paint and primer over them and then have a shop try to match the paint. I would start to think about who your "enemies" are and ask around. You would be surprised how many people talk, especially after a few drinks. To key up the whole car that bad is usually a personal thing. Then retaliate.
