Rattles and Solutions

I was thinking to fill the roof up with that Great Stuff, you know how it is hollow right, will i fiqured i could fill that up with it and if nothing eles deaden some sound and it would help in keeping the climate in the car even.

Also i was thinking that if every one who fixed any type of rattle in there car tell where they found it and how they fixed it in a semi detailed manner.

I know my car rattles like a beotch and I will work on that as soon as it gets home after the shop is done.

careful with that GREAT stuff, it expands & expands, if you put it in the wrong place it could buckle your sheetmetal. If you decide to do it, do it little by little, and not all at once., get too much in there and you might have a reallly big mess. COMPLETELY remove your interior too, becase the stuff sticks to everything and is a PITA to remove.

Be careful with that foam "great stuff" When you spray it the resin that hardens the foam is an Isocyanate that causes cancer. Wear disposable rubber gloves and use in a well-ventilated area. Some people are very sensitive to Isocyanates and develop an immediate and lifelong allergic reaction to anything made from polysterene foam. Imagine never being able to sit in your car again because polycompounds are all around you, seats, door panels, etc. Not trying to scare anyone, just keep it off your hands because it will soak through your skin and don't use in a closed garage. It isn't hazardous after it has dried...only in the spraying/drying phase.

I know that my dash used to have some squeeks, so when I tore the dash out, I looked for places where the plastic was rubbing together and I put some sticky backed felt.

I use this stuff all over in places that will not be seen. Like under the door pads where the manual portion of the lock rubbs on the metal, between platic pieces that are suspect of squeeks. NOW my car has no squeeks at all except where my leather door panels rub on my plastic pieces around the door when it is closed.

I think your nuts! GS is pretty dangerous. If you do use it, don't get it on anything, including your hands. It will be there forever. Get the pro foam at a autobody store. It's two part and much more dense and soft than GS. GS gets too hard when it's dry.

I like the felt idea, and also consider rubber grommets.

Frame connectors will take away most of your noises.

I was diging in my attic recenetly and came acrosse alot of foam pieces, like the stuff those pillows are made outta. So i brought the bags out of the attice and went to the hatch are of my car.

I removed all the pieces to find it all hollow. So i removed the crappy spare (why have it, I got a tire kit and compressor) begain cutting pieces. I stuffed each area filled with the stuff and placed the pieces back over it tightly. My hatch are was the noisest are in my car. Now there is no sound comign from there at all.
