140 speedo ques.

i found a 140 mph speedo at a junk yard and am thinking of going back to get it to replace my 85mph/140kmh speedo. The question is would my mileage be reset or would i have to change it to the right amount and if so how would i go about doing this? the speedo is from an 86 and i have a 87 iroc. thanx

It's not really worth the time, but you need to either take apart the speedo (very carefully!) or attach it to an electric drill to turn it over until it gets to the point you want... it will take you a long time to turn it over though.... the odometers reset every 100000 miles though, so it's kinda pointless... just keep track of the mileage you had and the mileage it has just so you can tell a potential buyer what the actual mileage is...

It only takes about 5 minutes to swap the odometers between the two speedometer heads.

Guess I didn't think of that LOL. Don't mess it up though, 140 speedos are getting harder to find.
