Anyone MAKE their own door panels?

I'm not talking recovering their existing panels, but making new panels from scratch. Has anyone done this and what were the results? If you have pics please post them. I'm looking to make some for my Firebird and plan on something close to stock but slightly custom.

Prime on www.NEThirdgen.org did. They were a bit simple but turned out rather nice for a first try. He was gonna try some better ones afterward.

I made some raised flame one that turned out pretty good. I had to cut new pannels out of masonite since mine were warped (also upholstery shops usually sell door panel board). Also make sure you have the fabric running the same way on both doors. I forgot this step and since I used perforated velvet one door looks black and one looks charcoal. Also, make sure you let the glue fully tack up before you bond the two surfaces. I had some spots of adhesive that were still wet when I bonded them and as a result I have bubbles when the interior temperature increases. If you have any other questions feel free to email me. I have pictures of them (although not good ones) that I can scan if you really want them.

Yep that was me

They were an attempt just to see how hard it would be. They were made totally from scratch. The morning after I made it I found these online.

They are made from abs plastic and include thier own monting method. They can be dyed or covered. They are $149.00 a pair and are made to be cut down to fit.
If interested here is there website, www.roddoors.com. They have about 40 diffrent styles.

I'll be doing mine when I actually get to my interior. I've got a spare door panel that I'm going to use as a template to trace onto some ABS, then I'm going to more or less use the same, straight-across pattern on the front, except I'll use leather and carpet. A little dyanamat on the back and I'll be good to go.

That's more like what I'm after. I'm planning to more or less copy the OEM style and design but replace the grey metrix cloth insert with either black vinyl or leather. The carpet section down at the cupholder will be a challenge if I decide to use it.
Anyone else had any luck doing this?

here's a pic of my door panels. I think next time I'm gonna try a flame stitch like the ones above so that the fabric holds the shape better.
