I work with carbon fiber and fiberglass All day at work. Moldinjection and hadlayups of stuff.

Im in the works of making a A-piller pod for 2 gauges for A buddy In austraila now. Right Hand Driver 3rdGen. after that Im gona do a few for Our left Hand Side pillers. anyways

Ive pondered the idea of a Hood but I mean I have access to everytihng needed at work. Price would be High on a CF hood thats for sure, Lots of time goes into making a mold. Lots. Your better off just buyin a fiberglass hood form harwood of someone else.

Just my .02.

I can get flat sheet stock of CF if you like. E-mail me for more details.

383, Im not far off from you in ohio. I come to Marion ohio all the time. Are you close to there? The reason I haven't Got a fiberglass hood is because nobody carries one that has a IROC/Z28 hood that has the mounting area for my hood dams. I was wanting a hood that looks and mounts just like stock so nobody would know it wasn't factory. I talked to GT auto about laying a fiberglass hood and he said that a well made glass hood wasn't much lighter than OEM. So I figured why not carbon fiber, Why should those rice drivers get all the good stuff. 383 Maybe we can get together and you could use my hood as a mold. I think there would be a lot of interest in a hood as I have seen A lot of IROC owners looking for a firberglass hood like this

I don't know if you want to make a Carbon Fiber hood... it won't be much lighter than Fiberglass for one thing, and it will make a real mess if it ever gets broken... you'll end up with lots of jegged edges all over the place.

I guess it is a novel idea... I bet you're looking at 2k, but thats only an estimate based on very small scale aplications.

In on the ohio/Pa boarder.

Carbon FIber is not gona be any lighter then a Glass hood. STRONGER yes. and to just have you come over would not be enough time. Like I said Im making a gauge pod now and Its been 3weeks in the works. It take Lots of time to get something of High Quality. Pluse the cost of CF isnt that cheap.

Your best bet would be get a 83 CrossFIre Z hood. (Factory Glass) and mod it to accept the Blicters. That would be 99% more cost effictive and realistic.
