tilt steering column

Has anyone replaced the pins that the steering column pivots on? I had one of them shear off last night. It messed up everything in the steering column. The key no longer works. I had to disconnect the groung cable to shut the car off. It looks like I have to take out the entire column from in the car, Does that sound right?

Those pins are a push fit. You don't have to take the column out of the car but IMHO it is easier to do so.
