Got a new Z, have some Q's
Hey guys!
how ya doin? I have a few Q's
Okay my shift indicator light doesn't work, a fuse or a bulb do you think? also my climate control guages aren't illuminated, again... bulb or fuse?
also my cruise is posessed! sometimes it comes on, sometimes it doesn't... is this the infamous cruise switch problem?
also the shifter feels very loose and doesn't shift nicely, you have to jam the button down to shift it and it's a pain in the *** ! aftermarket? hehe.
okay and also my fog light switch was getting very hot! now all of a sudden they don't work (stock ones) fuse or bulb or what do you guys think?
I want to replace the Z28 badges in rocker panels with silver ones, where could I get this? I also need "5.7 tuned port injection' badge all in silver.
OHHH and one more thing that's boggleing me about this car! It has a sensor in the dash that automatically turns headlights on... this isn't stock is it? it's cool but i think it's an aftermaket thing by previous owner.

The light on the fog light switch in my car gets very hot too. I think that is natural.

I know the auto light might be stock, since alot of GM cars had that. Depends on how your switch looks. Usuallay the factory daylight switch has an adjustment near your headlight switch. Most of the ones I have seen are some sort of Potentiometer, you can increase/decrease the delay of when the lights turn off after you turn off the car.

Yeah one of my lights doesn't work unless I get out go up and tap it. I think it is just a loose wire try that before you buy new lights. In the hays repair manual on page 10-22 there is a diagram of the headlight and fog light system. There are 2 Fusible lings one with the numbers 16 GA-RUST the other with 20 GA-RUST. I hope this helps.

i would check a fuse and then the bulbs for interior lights.
for fog lights the switch will heat up a little, if it gets hot enough to burn your skin then there is something wrong and you should check the wiring.
as far as the fog lights themselves, if you have to tap on it to work replace the bulb and make sure that the enclosure is sealed (no rock chips or broken seals) the bulb is relatively cheap to replace, but if you need a stock fog light housing those can get very expensive.
as far as the shifter if it's stock and the button is sticking, use a tiny standard screw driver to take out the little U clip in the front of the shifter and try to depress the plastic lever without it, if it moves freely just clean up your shifter boot; if it doesn't then you'll need to look further into it.
hope this helps some.
