I use the classic Bleachie White stuff. Works great for rims and tires.

I used aircraft paint remover, and took the clear coat off. Then wet sanded them down, using 60, 220, 300, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit sand paper, then when I was done, I used Mothers Alum. polish. Alot of work but the rims look great. On more clear coat. They shine up to a mirror finsh.

My IROC had cruddy rims when I bought it. They took a lot of elbow grease, but I got them to shine. The fronts were clear coated, so I just used Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish and soft cloth and lots of rubbing. Followed that up with some wax. The rears were harder. They weren't clear coated and the aluminum itself was corroded. I used fine steel wool on the machined faces of the wheel. Rubbed in the direction of the machining. Once I got all the corrosion off, then I used the aluminum polish on the the entire wheel including the painted surfaces. Followed that up with wax. They looked much better than when I got the car since I didn't have the money to have them refinished. To maintain the shine, just use the polish and wax everytime you wax the car.
