C6 corvette door 'handles'? on an f-body
just wondering if anyone else has thought of this,
shaving factory handles off, building recess behind door into body to reach behind and hit pressure switch to pop the door open.
little bit of fab work would have to go into it, but I think end result would be very..... awesome.

Someone did it a few years ago with a very elaborate build. A search in this thread should find it.

They pop open with a button on the inside of the recessed hole in the door, but you have to have the keyfob in proximity which is actually pretty cool. No need to unlock or anything manually.. Just walk away from the car and you're good lol

Doing that would require paying a body shop to shape the door that way and then basically repaint half your car so they can blend the paint to the rest of the car unless you're okay with having a car that's in primer so you could have fancy door handles. The cost would add up quickly.

im looking into this mod myself, I need my car painted anyways, my hood looks like a sunburn the size of texas.... the only thing im having trouble with is figuring out how to mount the actuator that releases the door latch. I wanst planning on the key fob thing, actually for the mechanism, I was planning on using the mech. off of the trunk for like a 98 Bonneville and using the facory lock mech. as long as its locked as many times as you hit the button, the door wont open. the only corvette part I would use would be the actual pressure switch itself. maybe not even so, corvette parts are crazy expensive.

yea! using the keyfob would be cool. I think the system relies heavily on the computer to operate though, none the less if it could be figured out, push button ignition, remote start, walk away locking.....ah man..
