Question about a IROC rim......

Ok,my right front rim got scraped against a curb a few weeks ago due to a ******* in a truck, and I am going to get some chrome trim rings from JCWHITNEY to hide the scrape,at least until I can afford some decent rims in a few months ,it is a 16*8 1989 IROCZ rim, those little rectangular tabs on the rim outer lips that stick out,can I take them off,I have to in order for the trim rims to fit, would it hurt anything if I took them off???

Are you talking about the balancing weights? You can take them off, but then your tires won't be balanced. I'm not sure if they can be placed on the inside or not. If they can, get them re-balanced and placed on the inside of the rim. Good luck.

Chrome trim rings won't work on an aluminum wheel. They are designed to snap onto a steel wheel just like a hub cap.

Plus, do you really think a chrome trim ring will look better than a little curb rash?

Always have your blance weights put on the inside and then your wheels will not look like sh-t.
