door and spoiler related -85 camaro
Hi all
Am in process of removing body parts to prep car for body work and paint. My two doors are rusted out on the bottom where the door skin is attached-2 bodymen said they can't be fixed and I should get other doors.
Q1. - is this true? and if so, I need 2 doors and mine has a power mirror on each and manual crank-all windows and stuff inside door are good-do I need a door that had the power mirror and manual crank, or can I just get anyone as i'm just going to replace the insides?
I assume the rusting there is typical on these doors as i've seen some on ebay with 5 different views of the door, except the bottom where it is likely rusted to ****, so I'm afraid to purchase
q2-I just got off the rear spoiler bolted on the trunk and the 3 middle studs holding it out of 5 or 6 pulled right out-how caan this be fixed-have no money to pay a pro
thanks

It would be easier labor wise to just find the doors like you have, but everything can be switched over with a little work.
On the spoiler studs if the mounting holes are still in good condition, but just lost the ability to screw the stud in, use epoxy to get them to stay. I had the same problem on my spoiler and I purchased some 10 minute two part epoxy to hold them in. I put a little in the hole, a little on the stud, and then stuck them in. Just make sure you let the epoxy set up before you reinstall the spoiler and don't tighten them too much.

Re: door and spoiler related -85 camaro
thanks-i'll have to check this but the middles of the holes were all white and decintegrated however there was anount 1/8 of good hole left to maybe put some kind of "sleeve" in there and maybe thread the holes??
has anyone done this or what would a body shop do?
Oh is it a fact that 82-92 camaro or firebird doors will work? I want to use my innerds cause they are in great shape, just want to make sure the door shell is the same regardless of the power options or not

Yes the doors are the same. They just have different ground effects on them.

JH5-upon further review-the holes do have a few threads and not totally disintegrated- I will give it a try as this may work- I ordered some epoxy online today and I'll clean the "nut threads that are rusted and oil so they move freely and remember hopefully not to tighten them too much-thanks
Oh, the doors, is the rust out on the bottom typical for these doors and can you be more specific on the extra work involved if the donor doors had power windows, or if they had no power stuff would the "hole for the wires not be there? as i said, i want to use the windows and insides as they are in excellent shape. If you can get any decent door for an 85, pls let me know-i'm not finding much in chicago that I trust ( I .e 5 views of door-forgot to show the bottom view for "some" reason

Re: door and spoiler related -85 camaro
Followup to my door question-I may be able to get power window doors with all working guts and mine are power mirror only.
q1: what will be the difficulty to transfer 85 camaro manual window guts into a power door frame? any wiring or hole drilling differences?
q2. would my power mirror door wiring have unused "plug-ins" to use the electric windows?
thanks for your help as I don't want to travel and pay good money for these doors not knowing the difficulties of using them. (the doors for purchase are 88 or 89 firebird doors)
