Repair or replace the doors???
Repair or replace the doors???
Hi All,
Just wanting some input and comments on a idea I had. My doors have a bubbled rusty area about the size of a softball. Not all the way thru though. And a couple of small dings. Would it be easier to replace the doors or repair them? I dont like the idea of bondo or fillers that might crack or come out later. Does anyone know how much do they cost?
Thanks,
Chris

repair, repair, repair. I am changing the door on my 91' RS. Pain in the you know what. If you do decide to replace the door, the only way to get to the back bolt on the bottom hinge is to take off the inner fender and reach in from the wheel well.

You should repair it. That should keep costs down. Do not worry about Bondo, it is tougher than you think. unless you have a lot more than 3/8 of an inch thick it should hold up great.
For minor wrinkles you can get some filling primer that when used it builds really fast, sand it down for a smooth finish.
On my car (it was in a hail storm) we used fill & glaze, now my car is straighter than it came out of the factory.. I can show it at big car shows like St Ignace (I think 3000 cars last year) and no one will ever know unless I tell them (like I did you). "Fill & glaze" is a higher grade bondo type product. "Bondo" I believe is a brand name like Kleenex.
