Red T/A with gold decals

Preparing to repaint my -85.
It is originally red and silver with silver decals, but when starting to order the new decals, I began thinking about going for an all red car with gold decals.
Any thoughts, or even better, any pix?

Re: Red T/A with gold decals

Well if no one's going to reply, I'll give you my $0.02.

Gold trim (or stripes) on any car that's not supposed to have it is generally considered tacky. IMO, the worst offenders are all those 80s Benz's that people had the chrome emblems redone in gold.

There's a reason why they offered Red with Silver stripes, but not Red with Gold stripes. It just doesn't look right.

Re: Red T/A with gold decals

The red and silver doesn't set your car apart like the gold would but remember, you have a car that is no longer seen very often. That alone makes it different and the original color is much more important to those of us that remember what they have.

At the end of the day, only you can decide to go silver or gold, but I woud stick with your original silver. My car is red metallic with gold trim. It always bothered me that the PONTIAC logo across the tail lights was painted in a red-org color so I changed it to gold (see my avitar). Not the same as you because the other graphics and wheels are gold, but, like you, I was really torn between original color and the gold. After it was done, I was glad I did it and have gotten several comments at shows that agreed.

Didn't the red GTAs cone with gold wheels and gold trim?
I think it looks just as good as silver trim, especially if you have the gold rims.

Gold is just out of style in general. Red and gold is a classic combination that's been around a long time.

In 86, Pontiac offered 60L (Champagne Gold Metallic Lower) and 74U(Flame Red Metallic Upper) only on the Fire Birds not the TAs.I don't see why it would look bad on a TA.

Re: Red T/A with gold decals

I at one time had a brand new 84 trans am that was red and its aero skirting gold and had gold rims with gold striping. Looked really good.
