1988 Trans-Am Rear Spoiler

Hi guys, well it's time to get going on the car. I want to pull the motor in the next couple of weeks, so I can rebuild it over the winter. But the subject of this thread is the rear spoiler. I looked the car over including the underbody and it held up very well (no rust that I can see), but the rear spoiler is shot. I see that a replacement fiberglass spoiler is available, does anyone have an opinion on it and where the best place to buy one would be? Thanks for any info., RonM.

Many folks have ordered the fiberglass replacement spoiler from Hawks. Everything that I have read on this forum and another F-Body forum is that it is good quality and fits well. I have personally seen one on a friends GTA and you can't even tell it's not the factory rubber one once it's been painted until you touch it. When my car goes into the body shop I'll be switching from the cracked, heavy rubber style that is currently on my GTA to the fiberglass one.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I'll order one up when I'm getting close to body and paint. Thanks again, RonM.

I got one from Hawks for my 89TA,the overall fit and workmanship is exelent. I did have a problem with both fingers, but managed to tweak them enough to get them to fit. And the fact they dont give you enough fasteners. After a few words (some not so kind) with Hawks they supplied them for free. Otherwise I am quite happy with it and will continue with Hawks

I'll mention that to my friend before paint, but I'm sure he would test fit the spoiler first. He painted my '68 Camaro and he is a stickler for detail. Thanks for the info., RonM.
