Hawks 5" Spoiler as a One Piece-Avoid drilling
I've always liked the 5" spoiler, but I don't like it enough to drill into my quarter panel. Plus I know I would want to be able to switch back to the 91/92 spoiler whenever I would like to.
I know nothing about fiberglass/body work. However I am wondering if it is possible to take the 3 pieces and connect them together to make it one single piece. Bolt the single piece down using the existing 91/92 spoiler holes. Then place a rubber "gasket" on the inside of the side pieces so it won't damage the paint. I could even cut some 3M clear bra strips to place on the quarter panel, underneath where the spoiler rubber pieces would contact the paint just to be safe.
If that won't work. Would I be able to just leave the spoiler in three pieces, then cut some 3M Clear bra the shape of the side piece spoilers, and place it on the quarters. Then get some strong double sided tape and use that to tape the side spoilers to the quarter panel? I know many newer cars use double sided tape to mount small body pieces. But I don't know if thats strong enough.
I'm definitely not looking for a hack job here. I just don't want to drill into my quarter.
Any Ideas?
