HIDDEN STAMPED BIRD

I pulled out the "glovebox" of my 82 S/E and in the panel behind the glovebox there was a BIRD stamped. i went to my friends house and pulled off his 87 glovebox ..but there was no bird ..
What you say .. have any f you found this hidden bird ?
why did Gm stamped a bird behind the Glovebox? (i guess it was an option)
Thanks

I have seen some early birds in the yards with the bird molded in the plastic like that. They did not have the glovebox. They did not even have the holes drilled for the glovebox. So maybe it was an option back in the day. Makes sence that GM would just use the same mold and add some holes. Somewhere they must had eliminated the bird though cause mine does not have one. I did not think they had changed that part of the dash though.

RedRaif,

I think your on the right track. To add to that, Firebirds and Camaros in the early 80's were use heavily in SCCA Trans Am Series, NHRA PorStock....ect...ect... Most likely the bird hidden behind that Map/Glove Pouch were there so whaen the race teams would gut the interior there would be something behind there promoting the car and the manufacturer when an "In Car" Camera was used durning a race. Instead of having to spend extra money to get a graphic to put in that area all they had to do was paint the bird thats was already there.

My $0.02
Robert

Interesting little piece of info there My '86 didn't have it, and my '89 doesn't, it seems from the trend of this post that they were on the earlier cars (82-85???).
